Review
by Thomas Glorieux: The first track (as said again is not found on the promo but on the original soundtrack) is a hoot to start with and is 7 minutes of pure fun. 'Remember the Titans Suite' starts with the thrilling sports rhythm of track 6, before getting into the suspenseful build up music of tracks 11 and 3, later to explode with the main theme version as in the best track (for those not having the suite) 'The Game' and concluding with the softer moments, found scattered around in 3 and 12. It is all what represents the music of Rabin and it is without doubt a worthy score track to have. Of course a lot of fans will want the rest also with it and even if it sounds regrettably the same, it is fun nonetheless. 'Integration' covers a different theme and is very enjoyable and a wonderful performance of the already wonderful main theme is heard in 'The Hospital'. The rest covers the same ideas as stated in the different array of tracks. So, you can obviously say that Remember the Titans as a promo states most of it a couple of times but stays enjoyable from the minute it started. Now of course questions will rise to the occasion, concerning why my score consists of the suite and not the original track and why the score of Trevor Rabin wasn't released in the first place, even if a lot consider it is that good. About the second part, I really don't know. A good score always sells good, because the one score fan writes a review about it and informs the other that it is worth having, culminating so in a circle that jumps from one good impression to sales to expanding collections. And if the score was considered at a time for Award consideration, it must mean something. Of course, my personal mix is different than the promo or original score and this comes because I've downloaded them and thought I was getting the original bunch. Still, I wasn't getting the first cue but the suite and in fairness, it works much better. Remember the Titans is a nice, enjoyable and very good listen, covering little that sounds new after a time but feels as good as it was the minute it started. Definitely something to search for if you like sports drama's from any corner of the composer table. \µµµ1/2/
