My Pedigree

This pedigree uses 'Ahnentafel' numbering (also called Kékulé numbering). This means that the numbers for a person's father are twice as large as that person's number. His mother's number is one unit more. With the exception of number 1 (the proband) even numbers are only given to men. E.g. if a woman's number is 25, her father will be number 50, and her mother 51. Her child will be number 12 (thus a male). Because of consanguinous marriage a given individual may appear more than once in the Ahnentafel. In that event the lowest Ahnentafel number is repeated at the other locations.

Since some of my ancestors could be linked with known bloodlines toward Charles the Great (Charlemagne) , a big share of old European nobility is represented in my pedigree. Most of those individuals are well documented on the web. For this reason I didn't tend to completeness in giving their genealogical data. It is just boring copy work in order to may pick them up to fashion my pedigree pdf -file.

Some dates could be expressed in "double dating notation", e.g. "February 17 1577/78". This doesn't mean that there should be any doubt about the exact year, but this notation allows to indicate the exact date at the time that the year's transition date wasn't yet set at January 1. In the Low Countries (the actual Netherlands and Flanders in Belgium) this has been done as early as 1582-1583. Since most of exact data in this genealogy are situated after the switch operation in 1582-1583, only dates before this switch could be indicated in that way. See for a more exhaustive explanation about this double dating notation and the switch from the Julian calendar system to Gregorian at different genealogical websites. England and its American colonies did not adopt the reformed Gregorian calendar until 1752, that is why most of American and British genealogical programs allow for double dating notation.

My pedigree is only available in PDF-format.
In fact the HTM-document was becoming too voluminous and cumbersome in updating.
To read and download this document you need to install (if not yet available on your computer) the Acrobat Reader°. You can download it from this site for free: http://www.adobe.com .
