februari 2011:

My work does not try to add new images to reality, but rather aims to enable another view upon reality through interventions in it or by opposing worlds against each other. The action, the performance, the event is the hart of the artwork itself.

What I aim at is to open up the rigid frames in which our way of thinking, feeling and watching is couched. These rigid frames are bourgeois positions and the art space itself tends to be condensed to such a bourgeois place. By shifting ideas from the art world to everyday reality; and by bringing in everyday reality into the art world, I want to unbalance these spaces. Time and again, I strive for opening up emerging dominant structures that present themselves as truths.

However, my works cannot be described as statements. They rather appear to be explicitly poetic. It is exactly in the search for free zones that (unconditional) beauty appears. Beauty emerges in the open, non-occupied spaces of the in-between, in the pure manifestation of matter not being mobilized for a higher subjective cause or within a stupid logic. In this way, my work combines an anarchistic, political attitude and an explicit longing for beauty.

My work moves in two directions. On the one hand I attempt to insert my artistic propositions in the everyday world; on the other hand I try to bring the outside world into the mental and physical space of art. Depending on the imaginary direction chosen by the spectator, the work shifts between performance and sculpture.
