Calopteryx splendens (Harris, 1782)
Akramowski gives 4 subspecies from which one is of his own description. One should be well aware of the fact that the exact taxonomy of this group is still under discussion.

Very common in Armenian Highlands, goes up to 2000 m and higher.

AKRAMOWSKY (1948): Common in Yerevan; most common dragonfly larva in the rivers there. Not rare in Caucasus province and the Northern Iranian province. Up to 2000 m. Flies from the beginning of june to the end of july, some to the end of august.

AKRAMOWSKI (1948): Very common in Armenian Highlands, rare in other disctricts. Only at greater heights, not found lower than 1300 m. Up to 2600 m. Flies from last decade of june to end of september.

Lestes sponsa (Hansemann, 1823)

AKRAMOWSKY (1948): Very common in Armenian Highlands, not rare in Middle Araks, but here only in higher steppe zone. Rare in Caucasus subprovince, but only in higher areas: lower limit 1400 m. Second decade july till end of august.

AKRAMOWSKY (1948): Common in Caucasus subprovince and Armenian Highlands, rarer in lower areas. Between 400 and 1700 m.

Sympecma fusca (Vander Linden, 1825)

AKRAMOWSKI (1948): Very common in Caucaus, but rarer in the higher areas. Up to 1800 m. Rare in Middle Araks. From the 3rd decade of march in southern Armenia; second appearing there from the end of may or in june.

AKRAMOWSKI (1948): Common in Middle Araks disctrict, especially in lower areas. Higher rarer. Not rare in Armenian Highlands. On the Kars plateau up to 2000 m. Last decade may to second decade september.

AKRAMOWSKI (1948) supposed this species would be found in Armenia as it was known from the ruins of Ani, just on the Turkish side of the border river (on map) and from the Republic of Georgia. In his supplement from 1964 he gave an observation from 1961 in Yerevan.
