One specimen from Ani (on Turkish side of the border river) comes in lenght and form of anal appendages close to G. vulgatissimus, but forms by color an intermediate form with G. schneideri. More or less rare in the whole of Armenia.

AKRAMOWSKI (1948): Very common in Armenian Highlands, common in Caucasus subprovince and Middle Araks. Less in lower areas and absent in semidesert area. Doesn’t go lower than 1500 m, although in Caucasus subprovince to 800 m. Flies from 3th decade of June to second of September. Available records go from 1300-2650 m asl.
Described by Akramowski (1948) as a new subspecies S. f.  austrinum, but this is not widely accepted.

AKRAMOWSKI (1948): Very common in Somkhetski and Armenian Highlands, also common in Middle Araks but less in lower regions. Up to 2000 m. Flies from 2th decade of may to 1st of september in lower areas, in the mountains from july to end of september.
Synonym: 
Sympetrum vulgatum flavum (Bartenef, 1915); but the taxonomy of these lightly coloured Sympetrums has long been confused. So it is quite well possible that in the records of this species others as e.g. Sympetrum haritonovi occur. These will surely need further study.
