the first version of this discography, I divided the chronogical
ordering in 5-year blocks. This was very convenient for generating
links
(that is why this was maintained in this update) and seemed to coincide
with gaps in the recording dates. On closer inspection, these gaps
occurred almost every year: if we count the recordings by month
(1935-1975), low activity is obvious in the early months of the year.
The few january recordings are concentrated in the 1935-1939 era, 2
more in 1967 and the final 1975 session. Have we located D'Arienzo's
yearly holidays? Sometimes it is good to reread the liner notes of your CD's. In the "70 Años" series (the 1954-55 volume), Carlos Puente writes: "...in january, february and part of march [D'Arienzo] performed in Montevideo...". That explains... |
