Hofnar (Dutch for Court Jester) : Appointed fool for the peoples entertainment. Dressed oftenly in a colorful draped outfit and a pointed hat with bells on it.

He who was allowed to talk about taboo/forbidden subjects or perform elusive acts / jesters in old medieval times and get away with them unpunished. Put into a ridicule and wrapped in farse, he would bring about more hidden truths than was first let out to believe. He was looked down upon by most, but still had more rights and priveledges than everyone else around him. A genius and unquenchable mind hidden behind a masked facade. His environment often didn’t recognize the true wisdom behind his ambiguous jesters and so the (court) jester is still a mysterious beeing of oblivious, great wisdom.

Hence hatching Hofnar's themes from inner-reflection and melancholia to apocalypse and Khaos; brought forth through melancholic dark metal and obscure (folk)lore.
