History: Kaoru is left to run the dojo without any desciples after a battousai imposter runs around killing people in the name of her style. She tries to find the imposter, but nevertheless she loses all her students. A young wanderer named Kenshin comes along and helps her find the man who's been dishonouring her dojo's name. Kaoru cherishes some form of affection for Kenshin and therefore asks him to stay. Kenshin, who likes her as well and feels needed, agrees on staying with her and helping to regain desciples. Kaoru herself is quite a complex character. She's mixed up inside sometimes because she's afraid of Kenshin returning to his former self: Battousai. She tries everything in her might everytime to keep him from changing back. Though she tries not to show it, she's very proud to have Yahiko as a desciple. I think she actually enjoys teaching him, although she's too stubborn to ever admit it. Kaoru might seem weak, but she's quite a master when it comes to kendo. She has a beautiful technique and practices martail arts with the idea of protecting people. An idea in which she believes very much. Almost more than Kenshin... There isn't a single
particular model for this character. Maybe I was inspired by Sanako Chiba,
friend of Ryôma. I was thinking about a character with a very strong personality
such as that of Fuyumi Sasaki, a character in "Kenkyaku Shobai" of Shotaro
Ikenami. But Kauro seemed to be more fit to play the role of a simple
young girl, but she's very active and I like her a lot. Besides, she seems
to be very popular amongst my female readers. |
