Pisarenko
Maybe the best looking super heavyweight athlete ever.
One of the strongest also. Several times world champion and world record
holder.
Absolute best results: 206 kg snatch
(1983), 265 kg jerk (1984) and a 465 kg total (1984 Varna)
Naim
Suleymanoglu:
Probably the most famous weightlifter of all times.
He was born in 1967 in Bulgaria as "Naim Suleymanov" but his
parents were Turkish and later he decided to change his name to
"Naum Shalamanov".
He was only 15 years old when he broke his first senior world
record! In 1984, at the age of 17, he
became the second lifter to clean and jerk three times his
bodyweight. If Bulgaria hadn't boycotted the Olympic
Games from 1984 than he would surely have conquered a first
Olympic title.
In 1986, Suleymanoglu defected to Turkey, changed his name
to" Naim Suleymanoglu" and represented Turkey at the
1988 Olympics. He won the gold medal in the class till 60 kg with
a total greater than that of the winner of the 67.5 kg class.
At the Barcelona Olympics 1992 the 1.47m tall "pocket
Hercules" beat Peshalov by 15kg.
In 1996, at the Atlanta Olympics, Suleymanoglu won the duel
with Greek Valerios Leonidis and earned his third gold medal by
breaking his own world record.
Suleymanoglu tried to win a fourth gold medal at the 2000
Sydney Olympics, but he missed three times while trying to snatch
145kg and was eliminated |

More pictures and a movie on the IOC-site.
Nikolay Pechalov:
The only man that defeated Suleymanoglu (at the 1992 and 2000
European Championships) was Nikolay Peshalov of Bulgaria
Talking about full squats....:
| Polish Barbara Sachmacinska (°1983) |

| Turkish Bilgin (-48 kg/ 53 kg), always making me

Even though I restricted my webpage to weightlifting
, I did add a picture from a Belgian powerlifter.
His bodysize is so exceptional that I wanted to show you. He is
probably the heaviest international athlete ever.
Florent Veldeman is a 205 cm tall giant. His exact
bodyweight is not known because weighing scales can't handle
weight more than 200 kg! His best lift is the Bench-press, with
265 kg.
