In spite of the warnings I got in my early life stage not to let me get carried away by women.....

20/12/2003:  International tournament "1st Grand Prix Hamm - Luxemburg"

After many competitions in November and December I didn't start fully motivated.

The ranking was on sinclair points and the first price was 250 euro but the second (or third) didn't receive anything so I think it was the reason that there were not too many high international level lifters.
Nobody knows for sure what to lift  to become first and  a second place only gives you a medal.
In my opinion they would have had a much better response when the first three would receive something.

Immediately after weigh-in it was clear that the battle for the first price was between me and Polish Oleksinksi lifting for a  German team.
Oleksinski had the enormous advantage that he was the heavier lifter so he knew exactly what to lift to win.

I weighed 61.6 kg and did very easy snatches with 112.5 and 117.5 so I took 122.5 for the last attempt.
Just when I wanted to take off, somebody shouted to the head referee that the weight on the scoreboard was wrong. Off course it broke my concentration and I started my pull too much on the toes. I caught the weight very easy, so easy that I'm sure I can snatch 125 again, but it was a little in front. I managed to come up and extend my legs completely but in the end I had to drop it.
I felt they "stole" my third attempt by shouting and I knew it was a crucial weight.

Oleksinksi weighing 98.5 kg snatched 152.5 and indeed passed me with a few points.

In the jerk I lifted 142.5 kg in second attempt. As I didn't know what I needed to win I asked for 147.5 kg.
Easy clean but my energy level proved to be too low to come out of the squat even though it was pretty close.

Oleksinski knew what he had to lift, jerked the 190 kg and beat me with 374 to 371 sinclair.
So the 122.5 snatch proved to be very crucial.
