“So far, the paradigm has been that teachers need to be taught as they are supposed to teach. The dilemma of bringing teachers and teacher students to a new didactic method, like the integration of ICTs, is in the fact that they themselves have been taught in plenary, discursive, non-ICT supported ways.” (UNESCO, 2004)
To finalize the formation to Master of Science in E-learning, Multimedia & Consultancy, this dissertation wants to deliver an effective contribution to the ongoing change process in Europe's Higher Education in general, and to the change at the teacher training department of the Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg in particular. Naturally is the whole renewing of the higher education much too broad and will this dissertation be limited to the study of the use of electronic learning environments in competence-based learning for student teachers. As the quotation of the Unesco above explains, it can't be the goal for this dissertation to realize a complete and final change process. The main goal is to support the already started change process and especially on three levels:

at the first place to offer lecturers a useful and to-the-point theoretical frame. Main goal is to let lecturers experience what the main reasons are for the ongoing change process en how electronic learning environments and teaching and learning with ICT can contribute to introduce competence-based learning. | |

at the second place with analyzing the data of the research at the teacher training department in the fifth module (project studies). As will be described a lot of changes and a valuable change process has already been started. In this part will be explained what measures and how to implement these measures can help to support the change process in the future. | |

at the third place with offering a model-study-program in the electronic learning environment natschool. Lecturers of the teacher training department of the KHLim, with a n@tschool-login will have the possibility to browse through the study-program 'Teaching and Learning with ICT' Together with the more technical course 'Durf te klikken' lecturers will sufficient be informed to develop and design with colleagues electronic learning environments for competence-based education. |
This study-program will be updated on a regular base to accompany new lecturers in the exploration of the use of the electronic learning environment in the competence-based education program. This new education program will be implemented from the start of the academic year 2006-2007, probably together with two new education laws.
This website wants to inform those who are interested in teaching and learning with ICT and especially the mentors of our students in Secondary Education Schools.
