If the problem is related to crashes or hanging when loading AVI files,
please try with a file that was not encoded with XviD
before mailing me. If the problem only occurs with XviD, try to find a stable version of that codec. Only versions 0.9.x are considered stable, all others are development betas. Read this advisory by the author of XviD for more info. |

Windows 95, 98, ME or 2000.
DirectX Media 6 (media player 2) is required. On Windows 2000 and Windows ME it is installed by default, for older operating systems you can download it from Microsoft.
If in doubt, we suggest you try running SubSync - if DxMedia 6 isn't installed you will get an error message, you can still install it later.
First: many thanx to Black Phantom for coming up with the basic idea and his contribution to further ideas behind SubSync, and for beta (or let's say alpha ;-) testing it.
The inevitable disclaimers: this software comes without any guarantee whatsoever.
The version number should be sufficient indication that this is a very early release (one of the first to be let loose on the general public actually), so it's not impossible that some features might not always do what you expect from them.SubSync is short for Subtitle Synchronizer - which describes the main goal of the program: synchronizing subtitles to the media they belong with.
Load and save different subtitle (caption) formats (and consequently, convert by loading one format and saving as another): SubRip (.srt), MicroDVD (different extensions used, sometimes .sub) en SAMI (.smi), plus probably more in the future...
Edit caption text.
Adjust title starting times and durations per subtitle, or per selected range of subtitles, or for the entire file: move forward or backward in time, stretch and shrink, adjust to different frame rates, auto-adjust based on the desired starting times of 2 different titles...
Insert and delete subtitles (and in combination with the other features, split a single subtitle file in parts, in case the accompanied medium is split up in multiple files).
Play the media (avi, mp3, mpeg...) or any selection with captioning to check the result.
Play the media while the user adjusts position and duration of each title by simply pressing the space bar (or any other key) when it should be shown, and keeping it pressed as long as it should remain visible.
you can find a preliminary version here and some more info here.
If you get an "Invalid frame rate" error message when you try to save a file with a frame rate of 23.976, check your country settings of windows.
There's a tab for "Number" and one for "Currency". Both pages contain settings for the decimal point and for the thousands separator.Make sure that:
- The settings on the two tabs are consistent, i.e. on both a period as decimal point or on both a comma.
- The two separators are set to different characters, i.e. not decimal point and thousands separator both set to a period or both to a comma.
