The Open Directory Project:
Edgar Cayce page

Welcome
to the web site of
the A.R.E.® Internet Search for God® study groups

The purpose of this site is to assist
internet study groups that work with the twenty-four lessons that comprise

A Search for God

The first Search for God study group
In 1931 a dedicated group of people in Norfolk, VA, asked Edgar Cayce to give readings to them, as a group, on spiritual life and growth. For eleven years, they met weekly and created
A Search for God together. Ever since, this material has served individuals and groups around the world to discover more meaning and purpose in their lives.

ISG: Internet Search for God study group
There are in-person study groups active throughout the U.S. and in many other countries around the world. In addition, the A.R.E. sponsors virtual study groups called  Internet Search for God Study Groups (ISGs), which are small, intimate groups of about 10 -12 people from all over the world. They provide access to study group work for those who, for various reasons, are unable to be a part of an in-person study group. These groups operate via private e-mail as well as through the A.R.E. chatroom. Just like the very first group did seventy years ago, SFGs meditate, pray, discuss the ASFG material, carry out experiments in application of what they are learning, study related Bible and other spiritual sources, and discuss their dreams together.

Of course the format of especially an email group is different from an in-person group. Members don't converse real-time, but read and respond to the group's messages at a time of their own choosing.  Love, fellowship, and growth however, are just as much present in an online group as they are in an in-person group. An ISG is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth.
