This section of the site covers the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (JtHM) series.
Johnny was Jhonen's first comic, and also his most popular one. Trying to describe the essence of the JtHM comics is a nearly impossible task, but I'll give it a try.
Let's start with the obvious. Johnny is not a very nice person. He likes killing people; generally the people he kills are people who have been mean to him, but sometimes he just kills them because they remind him of people who have been mean to him.
There is something therapeutical about Johnny. He is angry, but he doesn't hide his anger. Instead of letting his anger build up, like most people do, he just kills the people that made him angry. This is why you can read the comic from two different perspectives; either you can see Johnny as a hero who kills bad people, or you can see him as a schizophrenic psychopath.
It is, in fact, as Jhonen Vasquez himself put it: "Johnny is a villain in a world populated by less reactionary villains."

The comics are not all violence and gore; we also see what influences Johnny and we come to understand some of his motives. Johnny's monologues often have a deep philosophical meaning, and they are just as often hilarious.
For all these reasons, it should come as no surprise that JtHM is Jhonen's most popular work.
