In 1993, we bought Renko. We didn't knew much about whippets, but I liked them very much. Renko was an easy puppy. We took him to dog school and later also to the race track. In 1996 he got his official "brevet" in obedience with 91%. In that same year, he started his coursing carreer. He loved to race and seemed to be very good in it. That same year he became BELGIAN COURSING CHAMPION. Some of his coursing results :

30/9/95 Veille & Protège, Spa 2nd place
16/6/96 KBWC, Diksmuide 3rd place

In 1998 he won the "Challenge Beauté & Performance", organised by the KBWC. During the few shows he did he got excellent under Mrs. Bourdin, Mr. Duponcheel, Mrs. Van Tongerloo, Mrs. E. Newton and Mr. Rufino.

Unfortunately, during the first coursing of the season 2000, in Evreux, France, Renko broke his front leg and had major surgery. He can run and play as he wants, but he is not allowed to compete in coursings anymore.

At the age of almost 11, Renko was still enjoying his daily walks with the others. A year later, he is walking less and less. He now prefers to cuddle up next to you in the sofa. He was still the leader of the pack.

Unlike Bowie, he accepted Funky rather quickly. That is, as long as Funky would not jump on him.

On the December 1, 2007 we decided to let him pass over the rainbow bridge. His physical and mental condition was degrading quickly. (Sorry, I can't write about those things). We know we will never forget him, and luckily we have plenty of pictures of him, also of his last days.
