Xian was more a 'planned' dog than Renko. Because we love the style of coursing from Renko and because he also is a beautiful dog to look at, we decided to have another whippet with mixed show / racing blood. Xian started his coursing carreer very young. He gathered some nice results:

Although he doesn't like the show ring, he had some very nice results there : He went Best Puppy under Mr. Duponcheel and got an Excellent under following judges : Mrs. E. Newton, Mr. Derouet (CACL), Mr. Brassat, Mr. Fontana (CACL), Mme. Bourdin, Mrs. Van Tongerloo, Mr. Mattera (RCACL).
At home, he is a sweet dog, that certainly needs a cuddle every day (he will tell you when and how long), but does not like to be on your lap, unlike Renko and Bowie. He certainly enjoys a good walk in the forest or along the beach (as long as it does not rain, or is not too cold, or not too hot,...) and loves to chase the rabbits. Occasionally he catches one.
In August 2002 Xian had a terrible accident during the lure coursing in Basse Bodeux where he broke his nose and eye hole and obviously had a narrow escape. You can view (4.7 Mb MPEG Movie or via GoogleVideo) the accident.
After a long recovery, we took him to the University again in December 2002 to have a second complete check with CT-scan. Dispite the major injuries he seems to be healed incredibly well. We don't know yet if WE will be brave enough to let him compete in lure coursing trials but we promised him his weekly training runs at the race track again.
We only let him run 1 more coursing, the European Championship 2003. He ran, but did not perform well. We were too scared to let him run any other coursing.
In August 2007, he ran a short coursing during the BWCBW Funday.
